To just keep the damn thing instead if selling it for a quick profit, try keeping a running tally of the hours and money you spend as well as the busted knuckle quotient.
And when you think to yourself... "It's time to dissolve this, walk away, and cut ties" you can pull out the book and realize it's already too late for a divorce cause the kids are costing too much as it is and you might as well stay to raise em.
This is since just the fifth (when I took possession), and hardly much of an investment at all comparative to some projects like Trans-Camry or Bandit's respective whips. This is just getting familiar with the engine and chassis again after a two year hiatus in RB/R33 interaction.
Still. A few years from now when I still own the car I can look back and realize why I love it so much. Because time and because effort. (And blood)
Edit: If I were charging myself labour at 35 an hour I would have been out... 27.5 hours and about a grand. Yup. When you are in, you are in.

Another technique is to put a 1250 word advertisement on craigslist which also links to 5 pages of information about your car, and then wait for it to get flagged within the first 20 minutes of posting.
Then you realize that if you can't use craigslist, you can't sell it, and go back to ordering parts.
Its kind of like Russian Roulette though. What if somebody actually calls?

I met a guy the other night the said he 'accidentally sold his Miata'. That was his story, he listed it, thinking nobody would call...
I can understand though. I've accidentally sold one too. Tried to sell one, they came to see it, and wanted to by both of the Miatas I had...so...package deal...
It was ok though...I never meant to buy it in the first place. It was an accident...

Good luck with the list...and congratulations on the car.
My girlfriend ( Ferrero1911 ) and I are going to be doing the shakedown routine again very soon. (Not R33's...Toyota's...)
